As we give thanks for the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven, let us pray that all things on earth may be made perfect by God, as we pray for the needs of the Church and of the world.

We pray for the Church,

that the Church may give yet greater honour to Mary, Mother of God, and respond to God's will as she did.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world,

may Mary protect them all with her prayers,

and may God grant them peace and justice.

We pray for all those who suffer and those who care for them.

Mary knew the agony of her son's suffering when she stood at the foot of the cross, so may God bless all those who suffer, with the reassurance that he will deliver them from all evil.

may they follow Mary and all the saints into the glory of the heaven.

On this Father’s day, we pray for all fathers. We thank God for the blessings we received from our own fathers. We commend to his love all step-fathers, adoptive and foster fathers, all fathers and children who are separated from one another, and also all those who have never known their own father.
Lord, in your mercy.

For all peoples and nations who carry a heavy cross in their situation, our suffering brothers and sisters in the troubled areas of the world. Grant that all Christians may have compassion for them.

For all who cannot cope with the cross that they bear, those in frail health, financial difficulties or emotional problems, that they may find Christ alongside them in their suffering.

For all of us voting in the Euro referendum this week - that we may vote wisely, and for the common good.

For the souls of those who died in the recent shootings in Orlando, and for those injured and traumatised. We pray also for the soul of the MP Jo Cox MP, so tragically murdered this week. Priest: We turn to the Lord, our help and our refuge, and ask him for all we need.  

Reader: For the Church, the Pope, all our bishops, priests and deacons that they may confidently proclaim the Word of God and be firm in their adherence to Christ’s message of love, especially to the poor, weak or oppressed.
Lord in your mercy.  

May all missionaries - priests, religious and lay people - persevere in their work of bringing Christ to others, and receive abundant rewards.
Lord in your mercy.  

For all married people:  May they all grow sensitive to each other’s needs, and grow daily more in love for each other. Lord in your mercy.  For the sick, elderly and housebound, and those in any sort of distress: may they know the healing power of God’s love.
Lord in your mercy.  For all those in our parish or families who have died and gone before us to their eternal rest. Lord in your mercy.

For an end to the humanitarian crisis forcing thousands of people to flee persecution and danger in North Africa and the Middle East, and seek safety in Europe: that Governments may work together to protect the safety of the migrants, on land and sea; to share the burden of caring for them and welcoming them; and in helping businesses and travellers, whose lives are disturbed and disrupted by this crisis.

For those who face persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ: that they might be comforted by our support in prayer and in action.

For those currently on holiday. May they travel safely and return refreshed in mind and body.
