PRIEST:
Let us pray to our father in heaven who hears the cries of the humble.

READER:
We pray for the church and its leaders – may they continue to preach the scriptures with fidelity, humility and in true repentance.
Lord in your mercy

We pray for all who may never have heard the Gospel message, that through the work of the missions and the witness of each of us, they might hear and believe the Good News.
Lord in your mercy

Let us pray for our parish, that whilst giving thanks for our prosperity, we realise how poor we are before God. May we be open to the richness of the teaching of Jesus and resolve to live accordingly.
Lord in your mercy

We pray for those who are sick and for those who care for them, that their suffering be turned into lasting joy.
Lord in your mercy

Let us pray for our sisters and brothers who have died in Christ,
may they receive the reward of eternal life.
Lord in your mercy

We now ask Mary, our Mother most pure, to intercede for us as we pray Hail Mary

Let us pray for a moment in silence.

Gathered together in Christ as brothers and sisters, let us call to mind God's many blessings and ask him to hear the prayers which he himself inspires us to ask.

Reader:

We pray for all bishops and priests and the people they have been called to serve.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all those who serve in public office and for all those entrusted with the common good.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all who suffer oppression, exploitation, sickness, for those in anxiety and for all who tend to their needs,
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who have died in Christ, and for all those who mourn their loss.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all of us gathered here in this holy place in faith, reverence and the love of God.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us unite our prayers with the perpetual intercession of Our Lady as we say: Hail Mary .

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Priest says:

Jesus is the shepherd of our souls. Let us ask the Father that if we ever stray from the sheepfold, that he will give us not only the grace of sorrow, but also confidence in his forgiveness.

Reader:

We pray for the Catholic Church in all the world, that the Holy Spirit will guide and inspire the leaders of the Church, and render all her enemies powerless. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for peace and justice in the world, that civil officials may not oppose the will of God, and that the people of our land may choose leaders who will guide us in the path of righteousness. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them, that those who feel God is distant from them may realise that he alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those departed this life, that those who have left this life in faith and fear may find eternal happiness in heaven. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Now let us pray with Mary, Mother of all Christians: Hail Mary.

O God, the creator of life and author of every good thing, be merciful to those who transgress your laws, enlighten their minds to the error of their ways, and give them the humility to acknowledge their fault. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Priest says:

My brothers and sisters, in baptism each of us was sealed as a child of God and received a share in the priesthood of Christ. Now we ask God for the grace to live and work as faithful Christians. 

 

Reader:

We pray for the Church,

that the Holy Spirit may inspire God’s people to share their faith to the whole world. 

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

 

We pray for those in authority,

that the rulers of all countries may seek the paths to peace. 

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

 

We pray for those who are in need and for those who care for them,

that they may know the comforting support of the Mother of God, 

 Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

 

We pray for those who have died,

that they may find eternal salvation. 

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us. 

 

We pray with Mary, Mother of God. Hail Mary .

 

In a moment of silence, let us make our private prayers to God.

Almighty Father, may your Church, which owes its unity to the Holy Spirit, be immune to the attacks of its enemies and, just as Christ triumphed over death, may your Church emerge victorious over evil. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
