Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful : Assumption of Our Lady

The Assumption of Our Lady

The Priest introduces the prayers:

As we give thanks for the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven, let us pray that all things on earth may be made perfect by God, as we pray for the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:

We pray for the Church,

that the Church may give yet greater honour to Mary, Mother of  God, and respond to God's will as she did.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world,

may Mary protect them all with her prayers,

and may God grant them peace and justice.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all those who suffer and those who care for them.

Mary knew the agony of her son's suffering when she stood at the foot of the cross, so may God bless all those who suffer, with the reassurance that he will deliver them from all evil.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who have died,

may they follow Mary and all the saints into the glory of the heaven.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us join our prayers with the prayers of our Lady.

Hail Mary.

Let us pray for a moment in silence.

The priest concludes the prayers:

Almighty and Eternal God, may we have the same faith as Mary, who trusted perfectly in your word, that you may hear our prayers and answer them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful : 19th Sunday of the Year (C)

19th Sunday of the Year (C)

The Priest introduces the prayers:

The Lord tells us to be dressed for action and have our lamps lit. Let us be alert and active in our faith and committed to live in his justice and peace

Reader:

We pray for the Church in all the world,

that the Holy Spirit will guide and inspire all bishops, priests and deacons, so that we may all be ready to meet the Lord when he comes.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for peace and justice in the world,

that those in authority may not oppose the will of God,

and that we may have political leaders who will guide us in the path of righteousness. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them,

that those who feel God is distant from them

may realise that he is coming to save them.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those departed this life,

that those who have left this life in faith and fear

may be welcomed by Christ to their eternal happiness in heaven.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Now let us pray with Mary, Mother of all Christians: Hail Mary.

We make our own prayers in moment of silence.

The priest concludes the prayers:

Almighty God, we come before you, reborn in your Spirit. Touch our hearts, that we may grow in the life you have promised - touch our lives, that we may be signs of your love for all people. Grant this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
