Advent 1: Intercessions / Bidding Prayers / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:

We begin the season of Advent, preparing to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, and offer our prayers to the Father through his Son Jesus Christ, for the needs of the Church and the world.

Reader:

For the work of the Church, 
guided by Pope Benedict, that Christ's message of love and forgiveness will spread throughout the world bringing peace and blessings to all his people. 
Lord in your mercy

For the peace of the world,
that those in charge of political affairs may always be conscious that true peace is based upon the dignity of humanity, whatever his race, colour or creed. 
Lord in your mercy

We pray for our parish, community that we may experience the loving kindness of our Father in heaven as we journey through this life towards the Kingdom of God.
Lord in your mercy

For the sick and those who care for them,
that the Lord Jesus may heal the sick, rid the world of hunger and protect us from all disasters.
Lord in your mercy

For those departed this life, that when the Lord Jesus comes again, they may be reunited with him in his everlasting Kingdom.
Lord in your mercy

Let us now ask Our Lady to join her prayers to ours as we say - Hail Mary...

Let us pray in silence to the Lord

 

Priest:

Father, you gave us your only Son to prepare us for your kingdom. May our lives be a daily preparation for the day when we see you as you are. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

 

Christ the King 34th Sunday of the Year: Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Intercessions for Christ the King

 

Priest:

My brothers and sisters, we proclaim that Christ is the Universal King, and, in his name, we ask the Father for all the graces needed for the Church and for the world, that his kingdom may come on earth.

 

Reader:

Let us pray for Pope Benedict, the Bishops and for all our clergy, who spend their lives in the service of all of us. May God bless them, giving them strength of character, wisdom and devotion. Lord in your mercy,

We pray for parents, especially those within our own parish. We ask God to help them in the daily routine of bringing up their children with gentle discipline, promoting their education, and teaching them to know and love Him as their Father and friend. Lord in your mercy

We pray for those suffering hardship and financial difficulties, the sick and housebound of our parish and all those whose worries seem insurmountable that they may be comforted Lord in your mercy

We pray for all in prison and their families that they may know the Lord's compassion and love Lord in your mercy

We pray for those who have died.   May God give them peace, and sustain their families and friends that they may find solace in the certainty of their continued life with Him. Lord in your mercy

We ask that Mary, Mother of God, pray with us as we say, Hail Mary …

Let us pray silently for our own intentions.

 

Priest:

Father, you call us to be part of your kingdom of which Christ is King. We make our prayers to you with trust in his loving rule, for he reigns for ever and ever.  Amen.

33rd Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Intercessions for the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Priest: We present our petitions to the Lord our God on behalf of His whole Church and the world he created.

 

Reader:

We pray for the needs of our Church, as, guided by Pope Benedict, our Bishops and our priests, we seek to understand and follow Christ's teaching Lord, hear us.

We pray that governments and all people in authority will strive to lead those they serve with justice and charity Lord, hear us.

God's greatest gift to mankind and the Church is the Holy Spirit, who descended on the apostles on Pentecost and is still dwelling among us. We give thanks to you for this greatest of all gifts who is Himself the Love of God..   Lord, hear us.

Let us pray that all Christian men and women, aware of the vocation which is theirs in the Church, that they may answer generously God's call to seek holiness in the midst of their lives.    Lord, hear us.

For those who have died:  for those who have died in our parish during the last 12 months, for all our family and friends who have died, and those who died as a result of war, may God give them a place of rest and peace. Lord, hear us.

We turn to Our Lady, Queen of Peace, and ask her to intercede for us as we say together - Hail Mary

In the silence let us offer our own personal intentions.

Priest:

Lord, hear the prayers of your people. May we learn to put all our trust in you, our loving FatherWe ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever, Amen
