Thirteenth Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Priest says:

Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Reader:

We pray for the world in which we live,

May the Lord make his ways known on earth, and his saving power among all nations. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for our nation at this time of uncertainty and anxiety,

May all citizens trust in the Lord,

and with calm and compassion face the challenges of our times.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the Church through the world,

may the Lord guide us by the Holy Spirit,

that all Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in the unity of Spirit, in the bond of peace and righteousness of life.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those in need and those who care for them,

May the Lord comfort and relive them in their need;

give them patience in their sufferings, and bring good out of their troubles.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the faithful departed,

May those who have died in the peace of Christ, those who have confessed the faith, and those whose faith is known to God alone,

come at last to share with us in God’s eternal kingdom.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us ask Our Lady to pray for us. Hail Mary .

In silence, let us make our private intentions to God our Father.

The priest concludes the prayers:

Almighty God, to whom our needs are known before we ask, help us ask only what accords with your will; and those good things which we dare not, or in our blindness cannot ask, grant us for the sake of your son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful : 12th Sunday of the Year (C)

Priest:
The Lord challenges us to take up our cross and to follow him. In the many challenges of life, let us ask for his merciful love, as we pray to him for our needs and the needs of the world.

Reader:
On this Father’s day, we pray for all fathers. We thank God for the blessings we received from our own fathers. We commend to his love all step-fathers, adoptive and foster fathers, all fathers and children who are separated from one another, and also all those who have never known their own father.
Lord, in your mercy.

For all peoples and nations who carry a heavy cross in their situation, our suffering brothers and sisters in the troubled areas of the world. Grant that all Christians may have compassion for them.
Lord, in your mercy.

For all who cannot cope with the cross that they bear, those in  frail health, financial difficulties or emotional problems, that they may find Christ alongside them in their suffering.
Lord, in your mercy.

For all of us voting in the Euro referendum this week - that we may vote wisely, and for the common good.
Lord, in your mercy.

For the souls of those who died in the recent shootings in Orlando, and for those injured and traumatised. We pray also for the soul of the MP Jo Cox MP, so tragically murdered this week. May these terrible events not give rise to hatred, but instead inspire hope, that we may work together to build a better world, filled with the compassion of Christ.
Lord, in your mercy.

Let us commend ourselves and all God’s people living and dead to the intercession of our Blessed Lady as we say, Hail Mary…

Now in silence we remember all those who need our prayers.

Priest:
God our loving Father, we pray that you will accept these prayers in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
