Easter Day : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Easter Day

The Priest introduces the prayers:
The God who raised Jesus from the dead is the Father whose name we hallow, whose forgiveness we seek, whose will we try to follow. On this Easter day we address him in the name of the risen Lord Jesus, as we pray for the Church and for the world.

Reader:
Let us pray for those who still seek the Living God
that the Lord will choose to reveal himself to them and grant them Easter joy in his presence.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for ourselves, the community of the resurrection:
that filled with the spirit we may recount the deeds of the Lord and lead others to believe in him.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for the sick and those who care for them,
that the risen Christ may show them his love
and give them strength to bear their sorrows.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who have died,
that they may rise with Christ to glory everlasting.
Lord, hear us.

We join our prayers with the joyful Queen of heaven. Hail Mary … .

Let us pray in silence with all the saints who share in the power of the resurrection.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty God, hear your people who gather today to celebrate the glorious resurrection of Christ your Son. Lead us from this celebration to the joys which have no end. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“In truth this man was a son of God.”

Let us pray for all Christians:
May they embrace the joy of this Holy Week and grow in faith, penitence and mercy.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for the Holy Father, our Bishops and all Christian leaders:
may they proclaim with courage and conviction the Gospel of the crucified Christ.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for the leaders of nations and peoples:
May they use their power to protect the poor, preserve freedom and promote lasting justice and peace.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for all the dead, especially for those who die alone, unloved and unwanted:
may the Lord may receive them into his Kingdom.
Lord, hear us.

We now seek the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, Help of Christians, as we say. Hail Mary

In the silence of our hearts we offer to the Father our personal intentions.

Priest:
Almighty God, who allowed your Son to suffer for our salvation,
answer our prayers and grant us the grace to follow the example of Jesus,
who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

Fifth Sunday of Lent : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Fifth Sunday of Lent

Priest:
As Easter draws near, we turn in hope to our loving Father, who is present here with us, as we bring before Him our prayers and concerns for the Church and for the world.

Reader:

For the Church, Pope Francis, and all bishops, priests, deacons and consecrated people
that they will faithfully fulfil the role bestowed on them, to preach God’s covenant to the world. Lord, hear us.

For a renewal in our personal commitment to the way of Christ.
May we, like Christ, be more ready to forgive than to condemn,
and daily live our lives transformed by the Gospel message of forgiveness and mercy.
Lord, hear us.

For harmony in a troubled world.
May the coming glories and hope of the resurrection bring reconciliation and peace.
Lord, hear us.

For those who are sick; for the elderly and isolated; for those close to death and all who are troubled in mind, body or spirit.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for all who have died recently and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time. Lord, hear us.

We turn to Our Lady, refuge of sinners, as we pray Hail Mary…

In silence we now make our personal petitions to the Lord.

Priest:

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers with love and compassion,
for they are made in the name of the one whose life, death and resurrection brings salvation and hope to the whole world,
Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord. Amen
