The Assumption of our Blessed Lady : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Assumption of Our Lady

The Priest introduces the prayers:

As we give thanks for the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven, let us pray that all things on earth may be made perfect by God, as we pray for the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:

We pray for the Church,

that the Church may give yet greater honour to Mary, Mother of  God, and respond to God's will as she did.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world,

may Mary protect them all with her prayers,

and may God grant them peace and justice.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all those who suffer and those who care for them.

Mary knew the agony of her son's suffering when she stood at the foot of the cross, so may God bless all those who suffer, with the reassurance that he will deliver them from all evil.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who have died,

may they follow Mary and all the saints into the glory of the heaven.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us join our prayers with the prayers of our Lady.

Hail Mary.

Let us pray for a moment in silence.

The priest concludes the prayers:

Almighty and Eternal God, may we have the same faith as Mary, who trusted perfectly in your word, that you may hear our prayers and answer them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

19th Sunday of the Year (A) : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

19th Sunday of the Year (A)

Priest:

Do not be afraid, Jesus tells us. Confident in his enduring mercy in the midst of our passing anxieties and dangers, let us pray for our needs and the needs of all the world.

Reader:

For our Holy Father Pope Francis, and all in positions of authority within the Church: that as true successors of Peter they may be living examples of the courage and compassion of Christ..

Lord, hear us.

For all who, like Peter, struggle to trust in God’s loving purposes, that they may never forget that he is always with them.

Lord, hear us.

For those who find prayer difficult: that God may give them the fortitude to weather the storm, until they can again feel the warmth and calm of his divine compassion.

Lord, hear us.

For all those who have died. May nothing ever separate them from the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Lord, hear us.

Let us commend ourselves and all God’s people to the intercessions of Our Blessed Lady as we say Hail Mary…

Let us now pray for a moment in silence.

Priest:

God, our Father, grant that we who are nourished today by the Body and Blood of Christ, may be filled with his Holy Spirit, and become one body, one spirit in him. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Feast of the Transfiguration (August 6th) : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Feast of the Transfiguration (August 6th)

The Priest introduces the prayers:

Today we reflect on the glory of the transfiguration. Bathed in that glory, let us pray to God our Father for the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:

We pray for the Church,

may more saints be raised up in our age, ready to leave all things for the sake of the gospel, so that through them, God's power may shine out in the world, as it did through Jesus in his transfiguration.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who find it difficult to profess their faith,

may they be given the grace not to be afraid, and so, being full of inner confidence, may they proclaim the saving power of the gospel, which overcomes all difficulties.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for APF and other agencies of evangelisation ;

as they work tirelessly to spread the faith, may the Lord dispose us to give ever more generously to their work.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them,

that the healing love of Christ may shine upon them.

Lord, hear us.

We pray for those departed this life,

that they may dwell in everlasting glory.

Lord, hear us.

Mary shared her Son's sorrows. We pray with her as we say: Hail Mary …

In silence we make our private prayers to God our loving Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:

Father, on the mount of the transfiguration you glorified your Son, Jesus. May we live in the hope and trust that you are always with us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
