Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while. (Mark 6:31)
Priest:
Let us turn to Christ, the Good Shepherd, who inspires us with faith, hope and love, and ask him to listen to our prayers with compassion and gentleness.
Reader:
May Christ, the good shepherd who leads all people to the Father, heal our divisions, bring back all who have fallen by the wayside, and through the working of his Spirit foster greater understanding and co-operation between differing faiths.
Lord, hear us.
For ourselves, that we may find time to rest and pray, as well as to work and play, and be revived in strength and in our trust in God’s goodness. Lord, hear us.
For those who care for the sick, comfort the dying, care for prisoners, and befriend the lonely and depressed. May the Lord continue to bless and guide the work of their hearts and hands.
Lord, hear us.
For those going on holiday and for all travellers. May they will arrive safely and return refreshed Lord, hear us.
For the holy souls still cherished in our memories: as we continue to love and miss them, may God embrace them with his mercy.
Lord, hear us.
We turn now to Mary, the Mother of our Lord, and ask her to intercede for all God’s people, living and dead, as we say together: Hail Mary…
Let us now pray silently for our private needs and intentions.
Priest:
God our Father, the loving shepherd of your sheep, hear our prayers and look with kindness and compassion on all who call to you with faith and hope. We ask this in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.
