Fourth Sunday of Lent (C) : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:
Lord God, our light and our salvation, help us to speak to others of our joy and consolation in your presence. Secure in such love we pray.

Reader:

For the Church, the people, together with our deacons, priests and bishops:
that we may all continue to pass on our faith with joy to all those around us.
Lord, hear us.

For all mothers and mothers to be:
that they are able to raise their children in the security of a loving family.
Lord, hear us.

For the healing of relationships in our families;
that the Father may grant us the grace we need to forgive and to ask forgiveness.
Lord, hear us.

For those who live alone, the single, the separated and divorced, and the widowed.
May the presence of Christ in their lives accompany and guide them in the right path.
Lord, hear us.

For peace in the world and especially for refugees and the dispossessed, that they can regain their homelands and live in harmony with their neighbours.
Lord, hear us.

For all those who have died, included those mothers whose memory we cherish but who are with us not longer: that they may be held eternally in the FAther’s loving embrace.
Lord, hear us.

Let us turn to Mary our mother to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary..

Now let us pray in a moment of silence.

Merciful Father,
continue to grant us all our needs
through the grace of your son Jesus Christ,

3rd Sunday of Lent : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Unless you repent you will all perish as they did (Luke 13:3)

Priest:
The Lord is compassion and love, and knows our sufferings, let us make our needs to him known and ask for his mercy.

Reader:

For country and all the lands of Europe in this time of political turmoil:
that whatever decisions and actions may be taken,
the poor may be assisted, the vulnerable protected, and the safety and the rights and of all be held in high regard.
Lord, hear us.

For an end to war and oppression: that nations may live in peace and harmony with their neighbours. Lord, hear us.

For those who are suffering from illness or stress: for those whose livelihoods are threatened, for those experiencing stress at work, and for those faced with redundancy. Lord, hear us.

For our parish community, for those who minister to us, for our teachers, our friends, for the young people preparing to receive the sacraments, for all who are sick, and for those who have asked or are in need of our prayers, that the God may guide, bless and inspire them all. Lord, hear us.

For the faithful departed: that they will be freed from their sins and welcomed into the company of the saints.
Lord, hear us.

Let us ask Mary, Our Mother, to support us with her prayers as we say: Hail Mary.

Now we pray for our own intentions, in the silence of our hearts.

Heavenly Father, listen to the prayer of your people,
and grant us what we need.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Second Sunday of Lent
When they went into the cloud the disciples were afraid (Luke 9:33)

Priest
Lord God, our light and our salvation, we thank you for the desire that you have planted in our hearts, our yearning to see your face. With trust and confidence, cast out our fear, as we come before you in prayer.

Reader
Let us pray for Francis, our Pope; May the Lord protect him and grant him length of days. May the Lord be his shield and deliver him from all harm.
Lord, hear us..

Let us pray for the people of New Zealand,
and for all those shocked, traumatised and bereaved after the terrorist attacks.
That they may regain their dignity and hope,
And that mercy may always prevail over hatred.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray
that the glory of Christ transfigured may make our world not a place of fear,
but a place alive with wonder and joy.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for all migrants and refugees,
help us to welcome them with joy,
and, where they are in need, to work with generosity to overcome their sufferings.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for CAFOD and other Aid Agencies
as they face continual demands on their resources from so many parts of the world,
That we may give generously to alleviate the sufferings of others
Lord, hear us.

For all in our parish who have died and for those whose anniversaries fall around this time;
that they may enjoy eternal life. Lord, hear us..

Let us ask Mary to join her prayers with ours as we pray: Hail Mary…

First Sunday in Lent

‘Having exhausted all these ways of tempting him, the devil left him, to return at the appointed time.’ (Luke 4:13).  

Priest:
Today's first reading reminds us how the Lord led his people out of slavery. He is our light, our hope and our salvation, so let us turn to him in prayer now, bringing before him all our needs.


Reader:
Let us pray for the liberation of all enslaved persons around the world. We remember also those suffering from the slavery of addiction, illness or poverty.
Lord, hear us.

For ourselves: that, through prayer, fasting and almsgiving, this Lent may be an opportunity to move away from selfishness and pride to a deepening love of God and neighbour.
Lord, hear us.

For the needy and hungry of the world and for the development and relief work of CAFOD. May this Friday's Fast Day serve to remind us of the call to live more simply and put our faith into action.
Lord, hear us.

For all those who have died, and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time: may the Lord free them from death, and give them a place at his banquet in heaven.
Lord, hear us.

May Mary, who was ever attentive to God's word. join her prayers to ours as we pray Hail Mary ...

Let us now pray for a moment in silence.

Father, you sent your Son to bring healing to the world. Help us to recognise our needs and the needs of others. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

8th Sunday in Ordinary Time : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

A man’s words flow out of what fills his heart. (Luke 6:45)

The Priest says:
My brothers and sisters, let us join together to pray for the needs of all humanity, our Church, and ourselves, trusting in God’s merciful love.

Reader:
For all Christian leaders
That God will guide them to speak from the heart and be true to their word.
Lord, hear us.

For those who are lost and aimless in life
That they may find purpose in faith, and quickly embrace the challenge of the gospel of Christ.
Lord, hear us.

For those in need and all who care for them
That they may trust in God's loving kindness,
Lord, hear us.

For those who have departed this life;
That they may come to share in the glory of heaven,
Lord, hear us.

Let us join our prayers with the prayers of Our Lady: Hail Mary.

In a moment of silence let us make our petitions to the Lord.

The priest concludes the prayers:
Heavenly Father, hear the prayers of your people and grant our petitions out of the same love with which you created us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
