Fifth Sunday of Easter (B)

Priest:
Christ is the vine and we are the branches: we draw our life and inspiration from him.  With courage and faith, let us come before the Lord with our petitions.

Reader:
For the Church: that she may continue to make Jesus known to the world through words of hope and works of love.
Lord, hear us.

For our bishops, priests, deacons and religious: that they may be fruitful branches of Christ, the life-giving vine, and that they may never fail to proclaim the Gospel even in the face of adversity or trial
Lord, hear us.

For those seeking election to local authorities: that they may be guided by truth and a concern for the common good. Where they are right, may the Lord strengthen and confirm them; where they are in error, may he direct them for the good of all people.
Lord, hear us.

Let us pray for the sick and those who care for them: that Christ may be the cornerstone of their lives and a firm hope in times of trouble.
Lord, hear us.

For those who have died, that they may they be granted the fullness of life and joy in heaven.
Lord, hear us.

With Our Lady, who already shares in the resurrection, we pray, Hail Mary ..

Now, let us make our private petitions to our heavenly Father.

Priest:
Heavenly Father, the vine grower, we ask that your Spirit may work in and through us to make us branches that bear much fruit for your kingdom.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter 4 (B) : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Easter 4 (B)
The good shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep (John 10:11)

Priest:
With faith and trust, let us present our needs to the Father,
who speaks to us through His beloved Son, the Brave and Kind Shepherd of our souls.

Reader:
For the Church: that she may be the brave Shepherd of Christ's flock, being generous in faith, loving the needy, and sharing the the joy of the Gospel. Lord hear us.

For the bishops, priests, deacons and religious men and women of our Archdiocese:
that they may be faithful to the life to which they have been called, and untiring in their work of compassion. Lord hear us.

For an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life:
That, with bravery and kindness, people will respond to the voice of Christ the Good Shepherd, with courage and compassion. Lord hear us.

For our Parish community: that we may grow in kindness.
By living our call to be follow Christ, may we be beacons of truth and love.
Lord hear us.

For those who have died:
that the souls of faithful departed will find everlasting joy in God’s heavenly sheepfold.
Lord hear us.

We ask Mary, mother of vocations, to pray for us as we say, Hail Mary..

We pray for our own needs and intentions.

Priest:
Heavenly Father, in your kindness, hear all the prayers which we make,
and give us the courage to serve you as your faithful flock. Through Christ our Lord.

Easter Three : The Universal Prayer / Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Easter Three

“A ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have”

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Often when we walk along the road we are like the disciples, alarmed, afraid, agitated and doubtful. Yet in this Easter celebration Christ walks with us, sits amongst us, and offers us himself as food for the journey. Let us now place all our hope in him.

Reader:
We pray for the Church,
that all who preach the word of God
may be bright with the living Spirit of Jesus,
and that those who hear them may listen, understand and encounter Christ.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world,
that the resurrection of Our Lord may be for them a sign of hope,
not of conflict, and that peace and justice may prevail everywhere.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for those in need
for the elderly and infirm, who are having to accept a loss of their independence;
for all with mental or physical disabilities which cause isolation or rejection;
and for all who are blind to the needs around them;
that Christ may be their hope and comfort.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them;
that we may see what Christ would have us do in our lives.
Lord, hear us.

We join our prayers with those of our blessed Lady. Hail Mary

Let us pray in silence to our heavenly Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty God, when we are troubled and doubts are rising in our hearts, may your risen Son touch us with his love, and fill us with Easter joy. We make all our prayers in his holy name . Amen.

Divine Mercy Sunday (Easter 2)

Priest:  
Let us turn to the mercy of God, laying before him our petitions, the needs of the Church, and the aspirations of all mankind.

Reader:
We pray for our Bishops,
that through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
they will bear witness to the mercy of God and the joy of the Resurrection.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for unbelievers and doubters,
that they may come to faith, and trust in the loving mercy of God.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for politicians worldwide, that they may filled with a hearing for peace
which is the gift of the Risen Christ.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for the faithful departed. May God grant eternal rest to all who have died especially those who have no-one else to pray for them.
Lord, hear us.

Let us ask Our Lady to join her prayers to ours as we say - Hail Mary

In silence let us bring our own petitions to God.

Priest:
Almighty God, at his resurrection your son said his apostles,
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
In our great mercy look upon our faith,
and graciously grant our prayers
in accordance with your will.
For you live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
