19th Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that a man may eat it and not die. (John 6:50)
Priest:
Having been invited to come to Jesus, our bread of life, let us now confidently place our needs before the Father.
Reader:
We pray for those who have the goods of this world but who still hunger for the food that doesn't perish. May they find the answer to their deepest needs by drawing close to Jesus, the Bread of Life. Lord, hear us.
For those who face persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ:
may they be comforted by our support in prayer and in action.
Lord hear us.
For those travelling at this time, including those on holiday.
May they travel safely and return refreshed in mind and body.
Lord hear us.
For those waiting for examination results.
Whatever the outcomes, may they aspire to answer God’s loving call to each of them.
Lord hear us.
For those departed this life and all who mourn their loss;
May they share in the eternal banquet of the Bread from heaven.
Lord, hear us.
Mary the Mother of Christ is our mother also. We ask her to join her prayers with ours as we say. Hail Mary…
Let us now pray for a moment in silence.
Priest:
God, our loving Father, we ask you to listen to all our prayers because we make them in faith and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen
