Christ the King / 34th Sunday : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Intercessions for Christ the King

Priest:

As we acknowledge Christ our Lord and King, let us offer these prayers and petitions to the Father in His name.

Reader:

We pray for Pope Francis, that the warmth and mercy seen in him, in his words and in his actions, may inspire all in the Church to live with the same spirit as they strive to love God and to love their neighbour.

Lord in your mercy,

For parents: especially those within our own parish. We ask God to help them in the daily routine of bringing up their children with gentle discipline, promoting their education, and teaching them to know and love Him as their Father and friend. Lord in your mercy

For those suffering hardship and financial difficulties, the sick and housebound of our parish and all those whose worries seem insurmountable that they may be comforted. Lord in your mercy

For Christian communities around the world who face widespread violence and suffering, especially those Christians in Iraq and Syria.

Lord in your mercy

For those who have died. May God give them peace, and sustain their families and friends that they may find solace in the certainty of their continued life with Him. Lord in your mercy

We ask that Mary, Mother of God, pray with us as we say, Hail Mary …

Let us pray silently for our own intentions.

Priest:

Father, you call us to be part of your kingdom of which Christ is King. We make our prayers to you with trust in his loving rule, for he reigns for ever and ever.  Amen.

33rd Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

33rd Sunday of the Year (Prisons Week)

The Priest says:

With joy and hope we present our petitions to our generous and loving Father.

Reader:
We pray for a spirit of prayer and generosity in our parishes, may our union with Christ in the Mass lead us to a deeper personal life, and to a generous sharing of our time and talents with each other.
Lord, hear us.

For prisoners and their families at the start of Prisons Week.  May the bonds of fear, loneliness and isolation be broken so that forgiveness may prevail and all may find peace in their lives.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for all who work within prison communities and those who support prisoners and the victims of crime. May the Holy Spirit guide their minds and hearts and bring healing to all those wounded by the actions of others.
Lord, hear us.

For Christians around the world who are persecuted for the name of Christ, especially for the people of the Middle East - that God may come to their aid and give them strength to overcome their difficulties.
Lord, hear us.

For the Holy Souls, those who have died recently and all those whose anniversaries occur about this time.
Lord, hear us.

We ask Our Lady, Queen of Peace, to join our prayers with hers as we say: Hail Mary…

Let us now pause for a few moments of silent prayer

The priest concludes the prayers:
God of mercy and compassion,
hear our prayers and always assure us of your presence in our time of need.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
