Easter Five
The Priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters, with joy at Christ's rising from the dead, let us turn to God our Father in prayer. He heard and answered the prayers of the Son who loved us so much: let us trust that he will hear our petitions.
Reader:
Let us pray for the Church throughout the world,
that the Bishops of the Church will always lead us
in the way, truth and life of the risen Jesus.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us pray for those in authority,
that the Lord may direct them in the ways of truth. Where they are right, may the Lord strengthen and confirm them; where they are in error, may he direct them for the good of all people.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us pray for the sick and those who care for them:
that Christ may be the cornerstone of their lives
and a firm hope in times of trouble.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
With Mary, who already shares in the resurrection, we pray, Hail Mary .
Now, let us make our private petitions to our heavenly Father.
The Priest concludes the prayers:
Hear our prayers, Father, as we place our hope in you. In your unfailing goodness grant that in prosperity we will not lose our zeal, and in adversity have faith and endurance. This we ask through Jesus the Lord. Amen.
