The Feast of Pentecost

The Priest introduces the prayers:
On this great day the Easter season comes to its completion, as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. Let us ask God our Father to renew each one of us through his Spirit, so that the Church, the world and all those in need may be filled with his power.

Reader:
We pray for the leaders of the Church
may they, like the Apostles, be filled with God's Holy Spirit, and speak to the world of his unending care for everyone.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for peace and joy in the world,
may the face of the earth be renewed and the coldness of conflict and discord in society be dispelled by the fire and warmth of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the suffering and those who care for them,
may they be filled with the Spirit to bear their suffering in patient hope.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Mary was with the disciples on the day of Pentecost.
We pray with her. Hail Mary .

In the power of the Spirit,
we make our private petitions to God our Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, your Spirit renews our world. May he fill us with your love and enable us to do your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bidding Prayers / Intercessions for the Seventh Sunday in Eastertide

Easter Seven
(For use in countries where Ascension Day was celebrated on Thursday in the Sixth week of Eastertide)

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Brothers and sisters in Christ, Our Lord told his apostles to stay in the city and to pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let us call on him now, that he will send the Spirit upon us, as we pray for the Church and for the world.

Reader:
We pray for the holy Church of God,
may the Lord send the Spirit on all priests and all the faithful, that they may serve him and make his presence known in the world.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for peace in the world,
may all rulers be led by the Spirit, and remember that Christ is head over all, and may all people live together in harmony and peace.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those in special need of our prayers,
for the unemployed and those threatened with redundancy; for all in anxiety for the future; for those in grief with broken hearts; amidst their worry and sorrow, may they be aware of Christ's presence with them.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the departed in Christ,
may Christ, who has ascended to the heavens,
gather them all to himself.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

With Our Lady, we pray. Hail Mary .

Let us bring all our own intentions, before the feet of the Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, send your Spirit upon us, that we may be the instruments of your love in the world: strengthen us in your service and hear our prayers; through your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.

Ascension Day
(In England & Wales and many other countries, Ascension Day is kept on the seventh Sunday in Eastertide)

The Priest introduces the prayers:
On this day when Christ our Lord ascended into heaven, we make our prayers for the Church and the world, trusting that the Father will answer them out of love for his Son.

Reader:
We pray for the catholic Church,
may Christians use the media wisely and creatively to spread the Gospel
and to build God’s Kingdom of justice and truth.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for peace among the nations
may God rid the world of violence and let us serve him in freedom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the sick and those who care for them,
may they always feel Christ's presence with them
in the midst of their suffering.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the dead,
may Christ, who has gone before us into heaven,
prepare a place for us all in his eternal kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

With the Mother of Jesus, we pray. Hail Mary .

Let us pray in silence to our Father in heaven.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, just as your Son ascended to you,
may our prayers rise up before your throne,
and may our requests be granted.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter Six

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Brothers and sisters in Christ, Christ commands us to show our love for him and for the Father by loving one another. By our love the power of Christ's resurrection is made known to the world. Let us now show our love in our prayers for the Church and for the world

Reader:
We pray for the leaders of the Church,
may all the bishops be open to the promptings of the Spirit, and through him grow in the fullness of wisdom and truth and love.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for the peoples of the world,
that the whole world may rejoice in the gift of love, and that hatred and bloodshed may come to an end.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit;
and for those who care for them:
that God will keep faith with them in their discomfort, and show them his love. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray with Mary, Queen of heaven. Hail Mary .

Let us pray in silence to God.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, you have not left us orphans but sent us the Holy Spirit in whose power we make our prayer to you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter Five

The Priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters, with joy at Christ's rising from the dead, let us turn to God our Father in prayer. He heard and answered the prayers of the Son who loved us so much: let us trust that he will hear our petitions.

Reader:
Let us pray for the Church throughout the world,
that the Bishops of the Church will always lead us
in the way, truth and life of the risen Jesus.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for those in authority,
that the Lord may direct them in the ways of truth. Where they are right, may the Lord strengthen and confirm them; where they are in error, may he direct them for the good of all people.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the sick and those who care for them:
that Christ may be the cornerstone of their lives
and a firm hope in times of trouble.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

With Mary, who already shares in the resurrection, we pray, Hail Mary .

Now, let us make our private petitions to our heavenly Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Hear our prayers, Father, as we place our hope in you. In your unfailing goodness grant that in prosperity we will not lose our zeal, and in adversity have faith and endurance. This we ask through Jesus the Lord. Amen.

Easter Four

The Priest introduces the prayers:
The Lord is our Shepherd: there is nothing we shall want if we turn to him and ask in prayer. Let us now ask the Lord for all our needs, and for the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:
Let us pray for the Church which has Christ for its shepherd,
that all may hear his voice when he calls and follow his way of truth and love.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for all who are lost and unlooked for
that the Lord will show again compassion on those who have wandered from him, and empower us to lead others to his presence.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for vocations to the priesthood and the religious life:
that the people of God will be fed with his word, the broken-hearted tended by his healing hand, and all those who are weak receive strength and comfort through the sacraments.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who have departed this life, that Christ the Good Shepherd may welcome them into his eternal fold:
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We join our prayers to the prayers of Mary. Hail Mary .

Let us pray in silence for all our needs and the needs of others.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty God, we bless you for giving your Son to be the shepherd of your people. Grant that we who are strengthened by his risen presence may follow him in our daily life. This we ask through the same Christ our Lord.
