26th Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:

God sent his only Son so that we might know the right path to follow, so let us now turn to Jesus in faith and bring our intercessions before Him.

Reader:

For Pope Francis; May he be filled with God’s richest blessings today, as he shows us by his own life, the simplicity and humility which is an imitation of Jesus himself.
Lord in your Mercy

For those in public office, that they will strive to secure justice for the oppressed and safeguard the freedom of all.
Lord in your Mercy

We pray for the homeless and destitute in our society, that they will be loved and provided for according to Christ’s own heart.
Lord in your Mercy

For those who have become lukewarm in their faith, or even turned away from it.  May they be given the grace to rediscover Christ and the joy of following him.
Lord in your mercy

For all those who have died, remembering especially the many tragic and untimely deaths after the four day siege at Kenya’s Westgate Shopping Mall.
Lord in your mercy

We now ask our holy mother Mary to intercede for us as we say – Hail Mary …

Let us spend a few moments in silent prayer.

Priest:

Loving Father,
You dwell in unapproachable light.
Grant us the grace to persevere in faith.
We ask this in the name of Your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
