18th Sunday in Ordinary Time: Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayers of the Faithful

Priest:

Father, in today's Gospel we have heard how Jesus took pity on the crowd; so it is with confidence that we place our needs before you in his name.

Reader:

For our Holy Father Pope Benedict and all who hold positions of authority within the Church: that as true successors of Peter they may blend gentleness with strength in a spirit of genuine compassion towards others. Lord, in your mercy

In the words of St Paul: May nothing will come between us and the love of Christ, Not even if we are troubled or worried, or being persecuted, or lacking food or clothes, or being threatened or even attacked.  That through all these trials we will triumph, by the power of him who loves us.  Lord, in your mercy

Many of those who meet us daily are in need of a word, a smile, a moment of our time which we are unwilling to give. May the Father take away our hearts of stone and share his concern for them with us. Lord, in your mercy

We pray for those who have the goods of this world but who still hunger for the food that doesn't perish. May they find the answer to their deepest needs in drawing close to Jesus, the Bread of Life. Lord, in your mercy

For our relatives and friends who have died.  May death not separate them from the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus, our Lord. Lord, in your mercy

We ask Mary, Queen of Peace, to intercede for all God’s people, living and dead, as we pray together: Hail Mary…

Priest:

God, our Father, grant that we who are nourished today by the Body and Blood of Christ, may be filled with his Holy Spirit, and become one body, one spirit in Christ.

Very helpful for my little English speaking community, in a French speaking region in Cameroon.
