Advent 4
The Priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters in Christ, let us bring to the love of God our Father the cares and concerns of our hearts.
We bring to his love all those who find the preparations for Christmas difficult; the unemployed and those threatened with redundancy, the sick, the lonely and the bereaved, those who find it difficult to make ends meet, that the wonder of this season may fill them with joy.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We bring to his love all who hold positions of authority throughout our world; that they may be filled with integrity and a sense of responsibility towards those who depend on them; and that they may be strengthened to stand firm in what is right, even if it is unpopular.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We bring to his love our families, our friends and our neighbours,
that our daily care of one another may nurture strong growth of Christian love in our society.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us unite our prayers with those of our blessed Lady as we say Hail Mary.
We pray in silence for all our needs.
The Priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty God,
give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
