Advent 4

Advent 4

The Priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters in Christ, let us bring to the love of God our Father the cares and concerns of our hearts.

We bring to his love all those who find the preparations for Christmas difficult; the unemployed and those threatened with redundancy, the sick, the lonely and the bereaved, those who find it difficult to make ends meet, that the wonder of this season may fill them with joy.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We bring to his love all who hold positions of authority throughout our world; that they may be filled with integrity and a sense of responsibility towards those who depend on them; and that they may be strengthened to stand firm in what is right, even if it is unpopular.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We bring to his love our families, our friends and our neighbours,
that our daily care of one another may nurture strong growth of Christian love in our society.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us unite our prayers with those of our blessed Lady as we say Hail Mary.

We pray in silence for all our needs.

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty God,
give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen

Advent 3

Advent 3

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Trusting in the promise of God our Father to be faithful, let us approach him with all our cares and concerns.

Let us pray for all Christians,
for those who are imprisoned or persecuted for their faith;
for the lapsed and the doubting;
for the newly converted and for all Godparents; that they may know the sovereignty of God in all areas of life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for the world of commerce and trade,
for advertising companies, for those who work for television, radio or the press;
that they may be channels for enlightenment and discernment, and instruments for good in our society.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray for our families and ourselves as we prepare for Christmas,
that we may grow in patience and faith, and that our material preparations may not blind us to God's love,
but that he may be central to our celebrations.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We unite our prayers with those of Our Lady as we say Hail Mary .

The Priest concludes the prayers:

Almighty God,
give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility;
that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal;
through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Advent 2

Advent 2

The Priest introduces the prayers:

As children of our caring, heavenly Father, let us pray.

Reader:

We pray for all Christians throughout the world
that they may simply and wholeheartedly follow Christ, so that their lives witness to the beauty and peace of his kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for all world leaders, governments and their advisers;
At this time of international financial crisis,
may they be inspired to lead their people wisely and fairly,
with understanding and sensitivity.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for our own families and loved ones,
especially for any from whom we are separated; that we may learn to see Christ in everyone, and serve him in caring for each other.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those departed this life,
Especially Charles Poeppel and Josef Langer who died recently
may they rest in peace with Christ, and rise with him in glory.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We join our prayers with Our Lady as we say: Hail Mary .

The Priest concludes the prayers:

Father of all time and place, accept these prayers through your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
