Dedication of the Lateran Basilica
November 9th
The Priest introduces the prayers:
Gathered together as brothers and sisters in Christ, let us call to mind God’s many blessings bestowed on his Church, and ask him for all the graces to meet the future needs of our Church and the world.
Reader:
We pray for the Pope, bishops, priests, religious and all the faithful,
that they may remember always that the Church is people, and that they are her living stones, based on Christ himself, who is the cornerstone.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We pray for greater dedication to the Church among our community,
may we see the Church not merely in terms of bricks and mortar, but as the living body of Christ, which grows through holiness of life and to which we renew our dedication.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We pray for the sick, and those who care for them,
may they know the healing presence of Christ through the ministry of his Church.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We pray for those who have died,
That they may all come to worship before the throne of God in heaven.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We pray with Mary, Mother of the Church: Hail Mary .
We pray in silence for our own petitions to God, our loving Father.
The priest concludes the prayers:
Father, we have made our prayers in the name of the Church. We ask that whatever is lacking in our faith may be made up in your love.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
