20TH MAY 2007 Ascension Day
Priest: On the day that Jesus Christ our Lord, ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father,
we ask for the graces we need
to be his witnesses in the world today.
Reader: 1. We pray for the Church, that all Christians,
by their example of joy and hope,
may witness to the power of the risen Lord in their lives.
Lord hear us
2. Let us pray for doctors, nurses
and all who work to help the sick
May the Holy Spirit give them the wisdom and compassion they need in their vocation.
Lord hear us
3. Let us pray for those whose lives are torn apart
by serious accident, crime or war, that they may be able
to find the comfort of the Holy Spirit in all their suffering.
Lord hear us
4. Let us pray for those in our parish community
who are burdened with worry
that the Holy Spirit may guide them in their decisions
and bring them peace.
Lord hear us
We turn to Mary, who rejoiced in the Lord, that we may learn from her how to do his will with gladness. Hail Mary …
Priest: Father, hear the prayers that we make to you
And grant our requests where they are in accordance with your Divine purpose.
We make our prayers through Jesus Christ your Son
