Corpus Christi
The priest introduces the prayers:
My brothers and sisters, in the name of Jesus Christ the High Priest, in whose priesthood we share through the sacrament of baptism, we call on God our Father to answer our petitions, which we now make with confidence.
Reader:
We pray for the Church,
may the celebrations of the sacraments, especially the Holy Mass, fill us with a sense not only of God’s nearness, but also with awe at his greatness and compassion.
Lord, hear us.
We pray For Fathers, especially as today is Father’s Day. May they create homes filled with love and built on the firm foundation of Christian family values.
Lord, hear us.
We pray for all ministers of the Eucharist
may they minister with reverence in the Eucharistic assembly
and bring comfort to the sick and housebound in this blessed Sacrament.
Lord, hear us.
We pray for the leaders of the nations,
may Jesus’s concern for the hungry find a response in their hearts, so that no one in our world dies of hunger, or is forced to live in sub-human conditions.
Lord, hear us.
We pray for all who suffer
Remembering especially all those victims of the terrorist attacks recently,
and those affected by the Grenfell tower fire,
That anger toward those responsible may not consume their hearts,
But that they may know the love of God through the generosity and compassion of those who help them.
Lord, hear us.
We pray for those deprived of the sacraments,
may we be one in love and prayer with all those who are not allowed to practice their faith, and cannot receive their Lord in the eucharist.
Lord, hear us.
We pray with Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ our High Priest: Hail Mary … .
We make our private petitions in silence to God our Father.
Priest:
Father,
may the prayers we have offered
come before your heavenly altar
as tokens of our trust and worship.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
