Bidding Prayers/ Intercessions for Advent Sunday

Advent Sunday

The Priest introduces the prayers:
Brothers and sisters, as we prepare for the coming of Our Lord Jesus in this Advent season, let us earnestly ask his mercy, as we pray for the Church and for the world.

Reader:
For the Church, and all Christians,
that they may be more and more aware of their unique mission in the world, and so strive to serve mankind by reflecting Christ in all they say and do.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For the peace of the world,
that those in charge of political affairs may always be conscious that true peace is based upon the dignity of man, whatever his race, colour or creed. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For the sick and those who care for them,
that the Lord Jesus may heal the sick, rid the world of hunger and protect us from all disasters.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For those departed this life,
that when the Lord Jesus comes again, we may be reunited with them in his everlasting Kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We join our prayers with our Lady, as we say: Hail Mary...

Let us pray in silence to the Lord

The Priest concludes the prayers:
Father, you gave us your only Son to prepare us for your kingdom. May our lives be a daily preparation for the day when we see you as you are. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bidding Prayers for the Feast of Christ the King

Feast of Christ the King

Priest:
My brothers and sisters, we proclaim that Christ is theUniversal King, and, in his name, we ask the Father for all the graces neededfor the Church and for the world, that his kingdom may come on earth.

Reader
Let us pray for Pope Benedict, the Bishops and for all our clergy, who spend their lives in the service of all of us. May God bless them, giving them strength of character, wisdom and devotion.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for parents,  especially those within our own parish. We ask God to help them in the daily routine of bringing up their children with gentle discipline, promoting their education, and teaching them to know and love Him as their Father and friend.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for all young people, especially those who follow their faith in the face of misunderstanding and ridicule. We pray for the work of our Diocesan Youth Services in promoting the faith.
Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who have died. May God give them peace, and sustain their families and friends that they may find solace in the certainty of their continued life with Him.
Lord, hear us.

We ask that Mary, Mother of God, pray with us as we say, Hail Mary …

Let us pray silently for our own intentions.

Priest:
Father, you call us to be part of your kingdom of which Christ is King.
We make our prayers to you with trust in his loving rule,
for he reigns for ever and ever.
Amen.

O Lord, the creator and redeemer of all mankind, we humbly pray for all men of every race and in every kind of need: make your ways known to them, and reveal your peace and salvation to the nations.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

May the whole Church be guided and governed by your Holy Spirit, let all who call themselves Christians be led into the way of truth and hold the faith in the unity of Spirit.
