Ninth Sunday of the Year

Ninth Sunday of the Year

The Priest says:
My brothers and sisters, in baptism each of us was sealed as a child of God and received a share in the priesthood of Christ. Now we ask God for the grace to live and work as faithful Christians.

Reader:
For the Church,
that the Holy Spirit may inspire all Christians to make their faith known to all people, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For those in authority,
that the rulers of all countries may seek the paths to peace, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For those who are in need and for those who care for them,
that they may know the comforting support of the Mother of God,
let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For those who have died,
that they may find eternal salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of God. Hail Mary ...

In a moment of silence, let us make our private prayers to God.

The priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty Father, may your Church, which owes its unity to the Holy Spirit, be immune to the attacks of its enemies and, just as Christ triumphed over death, may your Church emerge victorious over evil. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Pentecost

The Priest introduces the prayers:

On this great day the Easter season comes to its completion, as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. Let us ask God our Father to renew each one of us through his Spirit, so that the Church, the world and all those in need may be filled with his power.

Reader:

For the leaders of the Church

may they, like the Apostles, be filled with God's Holy Spirit, and speak to the world of his unending care for everyone.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For peace and joy in the world,

may the face of the earth be renewed and the coldness of conflict and discord in society be dispelled by the fire and warmth of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For the suffering and those who care for them,

may they be filled with the Spirit to bear their suffering in patient hope.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Mary was with the disciples on the day of Pentecost.

We pray with her. Hail Mary ...

In the power of the Spirit,

we make our private petitions to God our Father.

The Priest concludes the prayers:

Father, your Spirit renews our world. May he fill us with your love and enable us to do your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
