18th Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Priest says:

My brothers and sisters, in baptism each of us was sealed as a child of God and received a share in the priesthood of Christ. Now we ask God for the grace to live and work as faithful Christians.

Reader:
We pray for the Church,
that the Holy Spirit may inspire all Christians to make their faith known to all men.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those in authority,
that the rulers of all countries may seek the paths to peace.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who are in need and for those who care for them,
that they may know the comforting support of the Mother of God.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray for those who have died,
that they may find eternal salvation.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

We pray with Mary, Mother of God. Hail Mary .

In a moment of silence, let us make our private prayers to God.

The priest concludes the prayers:
Almighty Father, may your Church, which owes its unity to the Holy Spirit, be immune to the attacks of its enemies and, just as Christ triumphed over death, may your Church emerge victorious over evil. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Seventeenth Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

The Priest says:

My brothers and sisters, let us join together to pray for the needs of our Church, our country and ourselves, forgetting not the many wants of all mankind.

Reader:
That God will guide all Christian leaders in the fulfilment of the obligations of their office.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That those engulfed in a poverty of the Spirit, because they have not yet received the faith, may quickly hear the challenge of the gospel of Christ.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That those in need and those who care for them may trust in God's loving kindness.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That those who have departed this life may come to share in the glory of heaven,

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us join our prayers with the prayers of Our Lady: Hail Mary.

We make our private petitions in silence.

The priest concludes the prayers:
Heavenly Father, hear the prayers of your people and grant our petitions out of the same love with which you created us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

16th Sunday (C) : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

PRIEST

Let us turn to God, our guide, for all our needs.

READER

For Pope Francis, for Archbishop Bernard and his assistant bishops and for all church leaders, that they may lead God's people in the ways of true wisdom.
Lord in your mercy

For those in our diocese who are to be ordained to the Permanent Diaconate this weekend. Lord, grant that they may always serve, but learn to do so with prudence, knowing when to act, when to instruct, and when to listen.
Lord in your mercy.

For our parish, that it may extend its hospitality and concern for those suffering during the current heat wave and to all those in need, always recognising the mystery of Christ in our midst.
Lord in your mercy

For the sick; may the inevitable distractions, suffering and cares of their illness or infirmity not keep them from sitting patiently at the feet of Christ.
Lord in your mercy

We pray for the faithful departed, [especially N]
Now their journey of faith is over, may they enjoy the full revelation of Christ's glory.
Lord in your mercy

Let us turn to Our Lady who lived a life of action and reflection, to intercede for us as we say,
Hail Mary…

Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

PRIEST:

God our loving Father,
we pray that you will accept these prayers
in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen

14th Sunday of the Year (C)

Priest:

As we gather together around the altar, united to Christ the Prince of peace, let us pray to God:

Reader:

For the Church; may the Lord grant her peace and unity, that she may be firmly united in faith and love.
Lord hear us.

For all those who are called to the priesthood, especially Deacon Craig, and for those called to the permanent diaconate and the consecrated life. As Christ sent out the 72, may he give them the strength and courage to answer his call.
Lord hear us.

May the Lord give those who work for peace the strength and courage to persevere in their efforts, despite the setbacks and disappointments they may encounter. Lord hear us.

For the people of Egypt; that their country may move from uncertainty to stability, from military rule to democracy, from danger to safety.
Lord hear us.

For all those who have died; may the Lord grant them peace and eternal rest. Lord hear us.

Let us commend ourselves and all God’s people both living and dead to the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say, Hail Mary…

Let us now pray for a moment in silence

Priest:

Lord Jesus Christ,
look not on our sins but on the faith of your Church
and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom,
for your live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
