30th Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Celebrant:

We trust and hope in the goodness of the Lord, and we bring to Him our needs, the needs of the Church.

Deacon/Lector:

We pray for Pope Benedict, for Archbishop Bernard and for all the bishops in our diocese; that they may be renewed in their apostolic calling to witness to the Faith of the Church. Lord Hear us.

Like Bartimeus, give us courage to pursue our ambitions and desires which are founded in true faith. Lord Hear us

As the dark nights are now upon us; we pray for your comfort, protection and guiding light. Lord Hear us

That our eyes may be opened to see more clearly the dignity of every human life, whether healthy or sick, convenient or inconvenient, born or unborn. Lord Hear us

That those who are sick or housebound may be comforted and assured of our ongoing prayers for them. Lord Hear us

For those who have died especially. May they know the peace of the heavenly kingdom in the company of the angels and saints. Lord Hear us

Let us ask Our Lady, to bring our prayers before the presence of the Father: Hail Mary .

We make our own petitions in silence.

29th Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:

Gathered in the name of Christ, nourished by the word of God and inspired by the Holy Spirit, let us pray for the Church and for the world.

Reader:

For Pope Benedict, Bishop Bernard and all our bishops; may they be renewed in their apostolic calling to witness to the Gospel.
Lord in your mercy.

We pray that the Lord will send workers into his harvest and bring the world to the knowledge and love of God.
Lord in your mercy.

That God will gather into one, all who bear the name of Christian, so the world may faithfully believe in Christ whom he sent.

That by our lives we may be the light of the world and salt of the earth – a sign raised up among nations.
Lord in your mercy.

Let us commend ourselves and all God’s people living and dead to the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say Hail Mary.

Let us now pray for a moment in silence.

Lord, we thank you for the gift of faith. Help us to keep that faith intact and to share it with others. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Let us turn to God our guide for all our needs.

For our Holy Father Pope Benedict that he may lead the faithful through the Doorway of Faith to the true treasures of heaven.
Lord in your mercy

Wisdom is the first and highest gift of the Holy Spirit, because it is the perfection of faith. Help us to appreciate these gifts of wisdom and faith and so deepen our relationship with God and strengthen our commitment to sharing that faith with others.
Lord in your mercy

For wisdom, in our work, whether it be in the workplace, the community or at home. Let us be cheerful and open, embracing it as an opportunity to experience your gifts and interacting joyfully with others, so we may enjoy true success in the work of our hands.

Let us pray for the wisdom to value the gifts we have, but also pray for those whose material needs prevent them from accessing your saving love.

For those who have died. May all the faithful departed experience the grace and mercy of Jesus and enter into eternal life with him.

Confident of our covenant with God and our unity with our brothers and sisters, we present these prayers before God's throne.

For Pope Benedict that the Father may guide him and bless and protect him in his work.

For the Church that it will continue to guide and teach us in faith, and be a living witness to the compassionate love of God

For the work of CAFOD, that together we may continue to strive for a fairer world, bringing bread to those who are hungry and hope to those who are oppressed.

For all married people. May we all grow sensitive to each other's needs, and that we may grow daily more in love for each other.

For those who are preparing for marriage that they may have a true appreciation of their vocation to married life, and a true awareness of their marriage responsibilities. May they receive the grace to lay the foundations of a happy and lasting union.

For all those who have died recently, and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time. May they know the peace, which comes from sharing in Christ's victory over death. Lord in your mercy.

God of love, draw us always to You, so that we may imitate your love and compassionate care for those in need. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
