17th Sunday of the Year : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:

Knowing that the Father is close to all who call on him from their hearts, we place our needs before him.

Reader:

For Benedict our Pope, for our bishop and for priests and leaders of your Church; strengthen them in the spirit to carry out your work.
Lord in your mercy

For the hungry, the starving. In complete selflessness, May we break with them the bread of our abundance.
Lord in your mercy

We pray for all the baptised. May they live lives worthy of their vocation, bringing love where there is hatred, unity where there is division.
Lord in your mercy

For athletes from all over the world now competing at the Olympics and for the officials, May the competition be in a spirit of peace and friendship and we pray for all who are intending to go to the different venues, may they travel in safety.
Lord in your mercy

We pray for those who have departed this life. May their deepest hunger be satisfied at the banquet of eternal life.
Lord in your mercy

Priest:

God our Father, you open wide your hand and grant our desires. Nourished by the Eucharist, may we be always faithful to our baptismal calling. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

16th Sunday : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest

Through the Gospel, the Lord Jesus calls us to share in his glory. Let us make our prayer with him to the Father for the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:

We pray for all nations, that they may seek the way that leads to peace, that human rights and freedom may be everywhere respected, and that the world's resources may be generously shared. Lord, hear us.

We pray for the Church, that her priests may find occasion to 'rest for a while' and be faithful shepherds to God's people Lord, hear us.

We pray for ourselves, that in the coming week we may serve others in our work, and find peace when we rest. Lord, hear us.

We pray for those in need and those who care for them, that Christ may bring them comfort and strength. Lord, hear us.

We pray for the faithful departed, that through God's mercy they may rest in peace. Lord, hear us.

We ask Our Lady to pray for us and with us as we say together. Hail Mary.

Let us pray in silence for our own needs.

Priest

Father, hear the prayers of the family you have gathered here before you. In mercy and love unite all your children, wherever they may be. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

15th Sunday : Bidding Prayers / Intercessions / Prayer of the Faithful

Priest:

With complete faith and trust we pray to the Father for all our needs:

Reader:

For the church, for our Holy Father Pope Benedict, for our bishops, priests and deacons, and for all the baptised. We ask God to help us keep our faith strong. Lord in your mercy,

For the children of our parish and for all young people who are changing schools or facing important decisions about their future - may they be guided by the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Lord, in your mercy

For those experiencing difficulties in their married life and for those whose marriages have ended. May they be given strength by the guidance of the Holy Spirit in their special circumstances. Lord in your mercy

For those affected by the economic crisis: for those who have lost their jobs or seen their pensions disappear, those who have lost their homes and those having difficulty getting food or heating, we pray for them and for the agencies giving help and support. Lord, in your mercy.

For our community and our neighbours, especially for anyone who is in need. Lord in your mercy,

We now ask the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say, Hail Mary

Let us now pray for a moment in silence

Priest:

Father, we bring you these our petitions, confident in the knowledge that you will hear and answer our prayers which we make through Jesus Christ your son. Amen.
