Bidding Prayers / Intercession for the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Priest:

With trust in the One who cares for us much more than the birds in the sky, let us entrust all our needs into his hands.

Reader:

That those entrusted with responsibilities in the Church and in civil government may prove trustworthy in the roles of service that God has given to them.

(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

That the Lord may increase vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and that those called may be generous.

(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

That all those who have anxiety about meeting the basic needs and demands of life may find the consoling grace of the Lord and the generous assistance of his people.

(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

For peace in our troubled world, for the people of Libya and for all other troubled areas of the world. May Christ's love touch them, give them peace and rest, and ultimately the joy of knowing and loving their creator.

(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

For all those who have been killed and injured in Christchurch, New Zealand. We pray also for all those engaged in the relief work, that their efforts relieve suffering and their pain.
(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

That the sick may be healed according to God's will, and the deceased purified and welcomed into eternal joy.
(Pause)  Lord in your mercy

Celebrant:

Father,
As we present our needs to you,
We ask you to increase our faith,
Free us from anxiety,
And give us the constant assurance of your presence
And your grace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
